How to File for Divorce in Vermont?

Follow these instructions to quickly end your marriage in the state of Vermont:

1. Make sure you or your spouse have resided in the county where you are going to file the documentation for at least half a year . It is also obligatory to live separately for six months before the paperwork is submitted to the superior court of the appropriate county.
2. Fill out the divorce complaint (there are different forms for couples with and without children) and the cover sheet for your case . The other spouse will have to draft an answer agreeing with the claims you put in writing and confirm they received the documentation from you informing them about the proceedings. One of you will also need to notify the Department of Health about the divorce.
