Statutory Power of Attorney Form - With Special Instructions - Colorado

A Colorado Statutory Power of Attorney Form provides legal permission, by the principal, for another party (known as the agent) to make financial and business decisions on behalf of the principal. The agent can use the document in cases when the principal is both healthy and when they are incapacitated. The powers cease upon the death of the principal or unless they are revoked prior to this.

This is why the principal will often select an immediate family member or a close friend to act as their agent. When selecting an agent, it is important to be aware that the agent needs to be someone reliable and trustworthy.

In Colorado, a Colorado Statutory Power of Attorney only needs to be signed by the principal before a notary public. There is no legal requirement for the agent to sign the document but there is an additional document that they can sign although there is no legal obligation to do this.
