An Alabama Self-Proving Affidavit Form is an important document in confirming the legitimacy of a will. It acts as confirmation that the will was signed legally and in agreement with local state laws. This will prevent any other parties or the court attempting to contest the legitimacy of the will. To confirm legitimacy, the Alabama Self-Proving Affidavit should be signed before a notary public and in addition to this, two other witnesses. These witnesses must be at least eighteen years old.
After all information has been added and signed accordingly, the form ought to be bound to the will itself as an additional document. The will, will be examined when the will reaches the court and the document will be used as confirmation that the witnesses agree about the legitimacy. In turn, this means that the witnesses will not be needed to physically attend any court proceedings to confirm the legitimacy of the document.
