A Secret Santa Sign Up Sheet is used to get a definite number and the names of individuals wanting to sign up to play Secret Santa.
Alternate Name:
An exciting and festive game, it is never too late to get involved even for those that have never taken part and have no idea of the rules. The basic concept involves each individual drawing a name of another person and this would be the person that you have to buy gifts for. The main aim is to be secretive - which is fun in itself. At the end, everybody gathers around to guess who their secret Santa was.
This game can be played within the workplace, in an educational setting or at home between the family. No matter where you play or who you play with, at first you would need a Sign Up Sheet for Secret Santa. This will allow you to know which individuals want to get involved and take part in the game and which individuals would rather run a mile. Bah Humbug!

There are many ways to do a Secret Santa Gift Exchange, but before you do - you may want to lay down some rules. In most cases this concerns a limit on the price of the gift and specific deadlines. You do not want any individuals taking part to feel like their present was cheap. Decide on a budget that everyone is happy with.
If you're struggling for Secret Santa Gift Exchange ideas, you may want to introduce a separate sheet where each individual taking part can write down a wish-list of presents that they would be really happy with.
After you have decided on the budget and purchased your present, you need to somehow exchange these gifts. Some individuals opt to have a special Secret Santa box located somewhere, where people can leave their gifts up until a certain time period. Others may opt to decide on a specific day on which they will exchange gifts after the individuals have attempted at guessing who their secret Santa is.
You may also organize a day for everyone to bring presents and one by one, the presents are opened. Other individuals have to guess who the present is for and if they have any theories, who it may be from.
In the workplace, a Secret Santa Gift Exchange is usually organized on a specific date. This date may be decided upon previously or an invitation may be generated to invite all participants at a certain location, date and time. Participants will need to RSVP for the organizer to understand the number of people that can make the exchange.
Alternatively, a host for the game may be designated. The host does not take part in the game (they do not draw names and do not purchase presents) but the host has another very important role. Their main job is to keep track of and organize the exchange of the presents. They will know the names of each secret Santa and when colleagues are ready to exchange gifts, they will approach the host and give them the present. In turn, the host will then pass this present on to the intended individual.
This way, the mystery can be prolonged for several weeks and it ensures people can get presents throughout a certain time period as opposed to just on one exchange day. At the end when the deadline is reached, all of the colleagues can get together and try to guess who their secret Santa was. The host will reveal all and confirm whether people's suspicions were correct or not. The downside however, is that the host cannot take part and will be left without any secret Santa presents.
