A Kansas Limited Power of Attorney Form gives legal permission for a third party to represent and carry out certain functions of an individual who for one reason or another, may not be able to carry out said functions. As there is a risk of power misuse, the principal has to ensure that they select an appropriate agent whom they can trust. If there is an agreed time frame for which the document is considered valid for, it is compulsory to include this in the agreement. A thorough, documented explanation of the authorized powers are needed to avoid exploitation by the agent.
A notary public needs to be present during the signing process of the documents to verify the free will and signature of the principal. The notary public will also usually sign and stamp the document.
