Military Clause for Lease Template

A Military Clause for Lease is a clause that ought to be inserted in a lease agreement in which it details that the tenant is a part of the army and there is a possibility that they may need to move locations at any given time.

The tenant may be conscripted unexpectedly and by including this clause in the agreement; it gives the tenant the right to cancel the lease by handing in a letter to the landlord, at least 1 month before they are deployed. They must also provide the landlord with the relevant documents received from the military confirming their departure. Without this clause in the agreement, it would be extremely difficult for the tenant to terminate their lease.

This clause doesn't necessarily need to be included straight away prior to signing the lease - although this of course is preferable. If a tenant joins the army during an already ongoing lease, they would be within their rights to request that the landlord adds in this clause to an existing lease agreement. This agreement needs to be signed by the tenant(s) and landlord.
