A New Jersey Gift Deed is completed to document the transfer of property or real estate from a donor to a recipient, where it is expressly written that no payment will be required during the transfer. Such documentation will require clearly written and defined terms so that no part of the deed can later be contested in court. To complete a gift deed, a full legal description of the property must be made, in addition to a record of the chain of title, any outstanding restrictions of the property, and a tax map reference (N.J.S.A. 46:15-1.1). To submit a gift deed, provide all additional documentation and send them to the local County Clerk's office where the property is located.
