How to Write an Affidavit of Residence?

Before you start drafting an affidavit, learn the requirements of this document and applicable laws. For instance, a Landlord Affidavit of Residence that confirms an individual has been living in a certain place for a period of time must be signed by the landlord as well, and some institutions will ask you to notarize the affidavit.

Follow these steps to compose a proper Residence Affidavit:

1. Write down your full name and contact information - mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
2. Address the individual, entity, or institution that requested the affidavit.
3. Certify your address. Make sure you provide a full address and record the length of time you have lived at this residence. 4. Confirm the information in the document is true and correct, sign and date the affidavit - do it in the notary's presence if required. Save a copy of the document for your records and give the original copy to the requester. It is recommended to send the affidavit by certified mail to obtain an official receipt that proves you mailed the affidavit.
