How to Get a Title from a Bill of Sale in Texas?

A certificate of title is essential for all vehicles and boats. To obtain a title for your watercraft, fill outForm PWD 143, Vessel/Boat Application, and submit it with a bill of sale to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. In order to become a legal owner of the motor vehicle, complete Form 130-U, Application for Texas Title and/or Registration, and file it with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles accompanied by the bill of sale.

A Texas Bill of Sale form must contain the following information:

1. Identification of the parties. Write down their full names and physical addresses;
2. Description of the property. Specify the main characteristics of the item, such as its serial number, model, make, year, size, color. If the item had any customizations, mention them as well;
3. Location and date of the deal;
4. Payment information. State the price and the chosen method of payment. List all the dates, if you negotiated to divide the payment into several transactions;
5. Signatures of the parties.

You are free to include any terms and conditions you deem important to your bill of sale. It is also possible to use notarization as an additional precaution. Prepare two original copies of the bill of sale for each party of the transfer.
