Veteran pension is a tax-free monetary benefit. It is available to low-income wartime veterans of a certain age or veterans who have a non-service-connected disability.
The document consists of two parts. The first part contains a list of conditions necessary to qualify for the Fully Developed Claim (FDC) Program. It also includes evidence to substantiate the claim, criteria the veteran has to meet for the claim to be processed through FDC, an explanation of benefits to filing to the FDC, and the comparison of the FDC and Standard Claim Process requirements. The second of the document provides the actual application form.

How to Fill Out VA Form 21-527EZ?
The application had to be filled out as follows:
- Section I required basic identification and claim information. If you claimed pension as age 65 or older and not based on disability, "N/A" had to be indicated in Items 9 and 10. Otherwise, the disabilities and the medical centers where you were treated had to be listed;
- Section II was for service-connected information. All fields in this part were obligatory and had to be filled out completely;
- Section III required you to enter your work history. You needed to list all employment, including self-employment for one year before disability. If the space provided was not enough, you could continue on a separate sheet;
- The marriage status had to be described in Section IV. If you were divorced or widowed, it was necessary to attach divorce papers or death certificates;
- The next part was for your marital information. If you were not married, this part could be skipped;
- Section VI asked about dependent children. In Items 24A through 24D, you had to enlist the dependent children that did not live with you, but were indicated in Item 23A;
- In Section VII, it was required to provide your net worth and net worth of the dependents. No items could be left blank in this part. If you had no income from a particular source, you needed to enter "0" or "None";
- Section VIII was for monthly household income, including the income of the dependents. You were not allowed to leave blank fields in this part, either;
- Section IX required asked about an estimate for your household income for the following 12 months;
- Section X was for medical, legal, and other unreimbursed expenses;
- The direct deposit data had to be entered next;
- Section XII required your signature and date. It was necessary to make sure all data provided was accurate and complete before signing the document;
- If you signed with "X", it was necessary to provide names and addresses of two witnesses to testify it.
