What Is a Colorado Generic Bill of Sale?

The Colorado Generic Bill of Sale is the document you fill out to record the fact of the item transaction from one party, called "the seller", to another, called "the buyer". It is most often used during the sale of all kinds of personal items, like electronics, bicycles, jewelry, furniture, and others. All properly completed Colorado Bills of Sale are legal documents accepted by any official agency. For the form to be legal and to protect you effectively, fill it out as follows:

1. Indicate the full name, physical address, and photo ID number of the seller. Provide the same set of information about the buyer;
2. Describe the item transferred through this Bill of Sale. Enter all details that can help to identify the item clearly: the make, model, color, size, serial number, and others. List the defects of the sold item (if any);
3. Specify if the buyer accepts the item "as-is", or if the seller provides any warranty;
4. Enter the date the agreement takes effect;
5. Indicate the sales amount both in words and in digits. If the payment is made in several transactions or there are any other special conditions, describe them in this document;
6. Very often, the form will include the seller's disclosure, stating that the item description is true and the seller is the legal owner of the item.
