ATF Form 2 Instructions
The form itself is not a registration form. It is submitted after firearms are made or imported. The instructions for ATF Form 2 are as follows:
- The manufacturers are required to file a form with a list of firearms manufactured or reactivated during a single day before the end of the next business day;
- The importers need to submit a separate form for each permit (used to import firearms within a single day);
- The importers must file the document no later than 15 days from the date the firearms were released from the customs;
- The notice of firearms manufactured or imported can be filled out either electronically or manually;
- If you fill out the form manually, enter all the information in blue or black ink;
- Enter all the information legibly; otherwise, the document will be returned to you for correction;
- Prepare two copies of the completed form. File the original with the NFA Branch; retain the copy for your records;
- The notice may be submitted by mail, via facsimile transmission, or electronically;
- Find the mailing address and the fax number in the instructions attached to the form;
- To submit the form electronically, the importer or manufacturer must be registered in the ATF's eForms system.

How Is a DIAS Listed on ATF Form 2?
The Drop in Auto Sear (DIAS) - also known as an auto sear, Auto Sear II, or AR15 Auto Sear - is a combination of parts designed to make a weapon shoot automatically without manual reloading more than one shot. The ATF considers all DIAS manufactured on or after November 1, 1981, to be machine guns.
Therefore, if you have imported or manufactured a DIAS, register it through submitting ATF Form 2 just as you would register a machine gun.
