North Dakota Vehicle Registration Instructions
Form SFN 2872 consists of eight parts which an applicant is supposed to fill out all applicable information. These pats include:

The purpose of the application . In the first part of the document, an applicant must designate what they are applying for. They are presented with a list of options and are allowed to check only one box;

Information about the filer . This section must be fully completed. An applicant must choose their status (whether it is an individual, business, lessor, etc.) and provide their identification information, which includes their full name, full address, telephone number, driver's license number or federal employer identification number (FEIN), etc.;

Information about the vehicle . Here a filer must enter information about their vehicle: its year, make, model, body style, fuel type, vehicle identification number (VIN), color, weight, etc. Besides that, a filer must designate the date when the vehicle was used on North Dakota highways for the first time and its odometer readings;

Motor vehicle purchaser's certificate . Applicants use this section to state the vehicle's full purchase price, tax, different types of fees, to figure out the total amount of fees due;

Information about the dealer and the lienholder . In this part of the document a filer must enter the date a vehicle was acquired, who it was acquired from, its first lienholder, their mailing address, etc.;

The information about penalties . The sixth section of the application provides information on penalties which can be applied to a filer if they provide false or invalid information. A filer must sign and date it;

Tax exemption information . If a vehicle has a tax exemption, a filer must take a number from the timetable presented in this part of the form, and enter it in the information about a Motor vehicle purchaser's certificate. Each number corresponds with the reasons for tax exemption, such as family relations, different types of transfers, gifts, etc.;

Damage disclosure . In the last part of the document, an applicant must disclose information about any damage made to the vehicle. This part of the form also contains types of vehicles it is applicable to and other requirements for them.
An application can be submitted in person or by mail. Before filing it an applicant should get themselves acquainted with North Dakota Registration fees, and figure out if their type of application requires one. For example, if a filer is applying for a duplicate car title they must attach to their document a $5 check payable to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
