How to Change Your Address in Virginia?

Completing the application is a pretty easy process and does not require a lot of time from the filer. The document consists of several parts that are supposed to be filled out. They include:

• Customer Information . Here a filer is supposed to fill in the gaps: customer number (as stated on the filer's driver's license or identification card), birth date, full legal name, the reason for the address change, and address field effective date. When an applicant is filling out the reason for the address change they are given two options: changing address because of moving or correction of their current address (due to typographic error, or new 911 address, etc.);
• New Residence / Home Address . Individuals use this section to designate the address where they actually live: street address, city, state, zip code, etc;
• New Mailing Address . In this part of the form, an applicant must enter their mailing address, city, state, and zip code. DMV will send all applicant's documents to their mailing address if it's different from their home address;
• Vehicle Registration Mailing Address . If a filer owns a vehicle which is not located at their residence address and they want DMV to mail the vehicle registration renewal notice to an address different from those recorded above or if they want to notify DMV of a vehicle that is garaged somewhere other than where they live, then they should use this section;
• Certification . This is the part where a filer certifies that the information they designate in the application is true and correct. Here is also a place for their signature, date, and daytime telephone number;
• Additional Vehicle Registration Mailing Address . If an applicant needs to change the address of more than two vehicles, they should use this part of the application - it provides additional space for nine more vehicles.

How to Change Voter Registration Address in Virginia?

If a filer would like to change their voter registration address, they can also use the Virginia Change of Address Form. To do so, they just need to complete the section called Information for the Department of Election at the very beginning of the application. It consists of two questions where an applicant should check the appropriate boxes:

• Are you a citizen of the United States of America?
• Do you want to apply to register to vote or change your voter registration address?
