How to Fill Out Form V317?

There are two ways to prepare DVLA Form V317. If you wish to maintain the registration number of your vehicle and put it onto another vehicle straight away, here is how you can do it:

1. Record the details of the vehicle which registration number you are planning to save (i.e., the personalized number, make, model, identification number, or chassis number). Add the telephone number of the individual who must be contacted in case the DVLA has any questions.
2. Examine the list of documents you must enclose to the application and tick the boxes to confirm the attachments. This documentation relates to two vehicles - note that each of them must have a vehicle registration certificate.
3. Indicate your personal details - name, address, and telephone number. If the application is prepared by the agent or dealer on your behalf, state their information instead.
4. Describe the vehicle that will have the old registration number - write down its current registration number, make, model, identification number, or chassis number.

If your plan is to retain the registration number you already own for future use, follow these steps to complete Form V317:

1. Indicate the details of the vehicle which registration number you are keeping - the number in question, model, make, the number of the chassis, or the identification number. State the telephone number to be called if there are any issues or concerns.
2. Read the checklist of documents you have to attach to the application - all of them are related to your vehicle. Tick the boxes to certify you have enclosed the Vehicle registration certificate, confirmation of tax paid on the vehicle, and insurance certificate. Additionally, attach a fee of 80 pounds to the application.
3. Identify yourself by your full name and contact information. If the document is filled out and submitted by your representative or car dealer, they must write down their details instead - they will be reached out to if the application is rejected or there are any problems.
4. Name the individual or organization that will own the personalized registration number for up to ten years. You can also add the details of the nominee if you are planning to put the registration number onto a vehicle they officially own.
