Blood Alcohol Level Chart: What Is It?

A Blood Alcohol Level Chart can assist a person in figuring out the permissible amount of alcohol and whether or not they run the risk of exceeding it and committing a driving offense.

Alternate Name:

  • Blood Alcohol Chart.

The blood alcohol level increases whenever an individual drinks alcohol. The gender of the individual along with their body mass is just two of the many variables that affect the blood alcohol level of a person.

An individual may not necessarily feel drunk but drinking raises the blood alcohol content; meaning that an individual may still be operating a vehicle whilst being above the permissible level, despite feeling fine. The blood alcohol content will start to decrease after the individual stops drinking alcohol.

There are different penalties and different permissible amounts depending on the state that you are driving in. In most states, anything about 0.07% is considered a punishable offense. Below is an explanation of blood alcohol level ranges and the effects that they can have on the body:

  • Anything up to 0.04% makes a person relaxed and feel warmer with a small change in judgment;
  • Above this but below 0.07% the feelings are somewhat similar but emotions may be more amplified;
  • From 0.08% up to 0.1%, a person begins to experience tiredness and speech may start to become slurred with problems in balance;
  • Above this but below 0.2% ranges from drunk to very drunk and can create severe problems in orientation;
  • Ranging from 0.2% to 0.24%, it is likely that the individual will pass out and vomit;
  • Up to 0.3% of all functions are extremely impeded;
  • Above 0.3% could lead to severe medical problems such as alcohol poisoning or a coma.
